My research centers on the variability of the riverscape and how to spatially quantify complexity in stream reaches. My goals for this week are:
1. Continue writing my introduction/purpose for my research proposal
2. Work on a complexity powerpoint
3.. Determine whether a Simpson or a Shannon Diversity index would be better for quantifying site composition
4. Finish manually delineating geomorphic units at the 5 sites Sara provided the data for: Temple Fork, Lemhi A, Lemhi B, Bear Valley and....
5. Compare my delineated units to Sara's
6. Run diversity indices at these sites. Determine if the indices are providing valuable information
7. Reread Pasternack (2014) and determine the workflow he used to determine the configuration at reaches in the Yuba River
8. Read the paper Steve sent me...
9. Reread Chris Jordan's paper on determine the complexity at sites Redds choose
10. Read everyone's blog posts to determine if there is someone I should be working with
11. Outline the four projects that I see feeding into this idea of complexity
12. Meet with Wally and talk about the new figures I made for the Colorado Plateau poster. Determine what to remove so I can add the riparian condition assessment
13. Tweek the Bioscience Appendix figure to more closely match the other figures.
14. Meet with the reading group committee and determine a topic for this semester
15. Find out if there are any workshops the FHC needs held and help schedule them
